Intake Session - Cancellations
(how we handle them)
Leaving the door open on a good note...
Intake Session
Your Intake Session is a one-on-one chat to work out whether mediation is the right fit for you, and to make sure you're set up for a productive session. We keep these close to the date so the conversation is fresh and useful.
How it works
-
We schedule your Intake Session — unless otherwise agreed — Intake Sessions are held on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, usually within a week of your preferred date.
-
We confirm with you — a few days before, we'll check in to make sure the time still works.
-
Payment is due before your session — the $150 session fee is due at this point.
What if you can't make it?
Life happens — that's completely okay.
-
No fees. No penalties.
-
Just let us know and we'll rebook for the next available time. That's it.
If things keep shifting
We allow two (2) reschedules per session, no questions asked. If it ends up needing to move a third time, we'll gently step back — our particular schedule and format simply isn't the best fit for what you need right now, and that's completely okay.
In that case
-
Your $150 is refunded in full, no deductions.
-
And if things ever shift and our setup does fit again, our door is open for you, let's leave it on a good note.
A small ask
If you know you might be in a tight spot, even a quick message a couple of days ahead gives us room to offer an alternative time. We'd much rather hold your slot than have it go unused.

Mediation Session - Cancellations
(how we handle them)
Leaving the door open on a good note...
We keep our Mediation Sessions close to the date on purpose. It means you're both in the right headspace, the details are fresh, and there's less room for life to get in the way. It also means we can keep things simple and fair if plans shift.
How it works
-
We schedule your session — sessions are held on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, usually within a week of your preferred date.
-
We confirm with both parties — a few days before the session, we'll check in with each of you individually to make sure the time still works.
-
Payment is due two (2) days before your session — each party pays their $550 at this point, so the commitment is fresh and recent for both of you.
What if you can't make it?
Life happens. A work thing comes up, a kid gets sick, something unexpected shifts. And that's completely okay.
-
No fees. No penalties. No "but you cancelled."
-
Just let us know as soon as you can, and we'll rebook for the next available weekend. That's it.
-
If only one (1) of you can make it, we'll simply find a new date that works for both of you. No one gets charged, and no one gets singled out.
If things keep shifting
We allow two (2) reschedules per session, no questions asked — that's a total of two (2) for the session as a whole, not two per party.
So if one of you needs to move the date, that counts against the session's two reschedules (regardless of who asked). We genuinely understand that when you're navigating a separation, timing is hard and things don't always line up the first (or second) time around.
But if a session ends up needing to move a third time (by either party), we'll gently step back here and we will not seek to reschedule a third Mediation Session. At that point we will assume that our particular schedule and format (short lead times, weekend sessions, close-to-date confirmations) simply isn't the best fit for what you need right now. You deserve a mediation setup that works around your timing, not the other way around.
In that case:
-
Both parties' $550 fees are refunded in full, no deductions.
-
We'll happily point you toward other FDR or mediation providers whose schedule or format might suit you better.
-
And if things ever shift and our setup does fit again, our doors at Currawong House will be open.
A small ask
If you know you might be in a tight spot, even a quick "hey, might need to move this" message a couple of days ahead gives us room to offer an alternative time. We'd much rather hold your slot than have it go unused.
