Currawong House

About Us

Roger and Elizabeth arrived in Australia in 2000, following their children who had previously immigrated to both Australia and New Zealand. Both bring with them a wealth of international experience in the hospitality industry.

Elizabeth and Roger

Elizabeth, whose family ran a very successful English South Coast holiday hotel company, grew up with intimate "hands on" knowledge of all sides of the hotel business. When the children left home, it was decided to convert their 400 year old Warwickshire farm house into a top quality Bed and Breakfast, with self catering cottages built into the historic barns, for longer stays.

Shortly after opening in 1985 the Automobile Association voted Shrewley House the best newcomer for the whole of the U.K. a "one off" accolade and subsequently the best B&B in the region each year. Many awards followed from the English Tourist Board, Mitchelin and others. While welcoming new friends from all walks of life, Shrewley House developed into a home away from home for business executives visiting them on a regular basis and a hideaway for the rich and famous.

They intend to aim Currawong House at a similar market, which they believe to be unique in NSW.

Roger's main company was involved in the manufacture and export of specialised car parts, but the development of Shrewley House was a passion. He has always been a keen participating sportsman, originally racing sports cars as a part of his business. Rugby Union Football followed, eventually becoming Captain then President of Solihull R.U.F.C.

Later Roger started rowing for Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon, which he continues to enjoy here in Australia, rowing with Drummoyne.
